HIGH VOLTAGE ENERGIZED INSULATOR CLEANING
Midsun Group, Inc. offers an energized high voltage insulator cleaning service for electrical and industrial utility companies countrywide. All work is performed by trained Midsun technicians using a dry abrasive method. Midsun specializes in the cleaning of high voltage insulators in electrical power plants, distribution substations, transformer substations and outdoor switchgear. The contamination of high voltage insulators greatly affects the insulating properties needed to protect your electrical equipment, which may lead to costly inadvertent outages and possibly serious equipment damage. Therefore the periodic cleaning of insulators in highly contaminated areas becomes crucial in the electrical utilities. By the use of dry abrasives such as corn cob, baking soda, crushed limestone, walnut shell and other abrasives. Midsun is able to remove the contaminates that may lead to an electrical discharge which can cause flashovers. Cleaning with a dry abrasive such is a very effective and efficient means of removing hard deposits such as cement and fertilizers. They are also effective in removing soft, but difficult materials such as insulator grease, without causing damaged to the insulator or affecting its properties. Midsun can mobilize a three man crew, in most cases with short notice, upon receiving the call from the electrical utility company. Midsun employs a minimum 3 man crew so that the work is at all times under strict supervision. (Safety First) One crew member (Blasting Technician) performs the actual cleaning. The second maintains media flow for the system while maintaining visibility and communication with the blasting technician. The third is the ground man responsible for making sure all OSHA or company electrical limits of approach are clear and safe. |
